Marjorie K. “Marj” (Hiott) Petticord, 91, Martinsville, passed away at 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Mooresville.
She was born on Sunday, August 29, 1920 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Edgar T. and Helen L. (Wilkins) Hiott.
On December 29, 1943 she married William E. Petticord, and he died on May 5, 1988.
Marj was a 1938 graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. She retired from Dr. William Winter's office after working there for ten years; prior to that she had worked at Block's Department Store in Indianapolis.
She was a member of the Martha Chapter O.E.S., where she was a Past Matron and Past District Deputy. Marj also served as Past President of Beauceant in Bloomington, Past President and Past District Treasurer for the United Methodist Women and was a Past President of the Martinsville Department Club.
Survivors are sons, Michael Petticord and wife Darlene of Martinsville and S. Douglas Petticord and wife Shirley of Mooresville; daughter, Sandra Schunke and husband Roger of Paxton, Illinois; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Mary Jane Hiott and a stepbrother, Jack E. Hiott.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Suter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville.
